WSF2026 Side-Event: Finnish Sauna Design & Construction Workshop in Helsinki, June 13th
Saunologia organizes a half-day workshop on Finnish sauna design and construction in association with World Sauna Forum 2026. This workshop is held in Helsinki, unlike the main event.
Workshop description: Finnish Sauna Essentials training
Learn the principles of Finnish sauna design and construction.
Identify the essential components of sauna technology and their functional roles. Learn to plan safe, functional, and enjoyable sauna environments for clients. Learn to communicate with customers and contractors using correct terminology and professional standards.
The workshop instructor, PhD, sauna designer and top-selling sauna author, Lassi Liikkanen (he/him) will run the approximately three-hour design workshop which is followed by an optional sauna experience.
We will explore in detail a case study of an integrated sauna design and construction. This case illustrates all critical phases of indoor sauna creation with many take aways applicable to other types of saunas too.

- Betweens the walls, below the ceiling: from capacity to a rough layout
- Heater choice and placement, height considerations

- Bench layouts and cross-sections
